Privacy Policy

This policy describes the data connected with a visit to Rockingham County Criminal History, the reasons it may be processed, and the limited situations in which another service may receive it. Continued use of the site signifies acceptance of these practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

Text entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. We do not retain or log those search terms on our systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

If you email us, the message and return address may be kept long enough to respond and maintain the exchange. We do not disclose the message beyond our organization unless the law requires it.

Data We Gather Automatically

Normal server and analytics records may include the visitor's IP address, browser and version, device or operating system, referring page, pages viewed, time spent, and page-view timestamps.

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small device files that help measure traffic and site use. Analytics services may combine visit data to show which pages are useful and where technical issues arise. Browser controls can block cookies, though some functions may then behave differently.

What We Do With This Data

Collected technical information supports a limited set of operational purposes.

  • Operating the site and improving page speed
  • Passing a search request to the selected partner service
  • Measuring which pages visitors use
  • Finding faults, abuse, and security problems
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Rockingham County Criminal History does not compile, maintain, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to the Clerk of Superior Court, Civil Process & Records, the North Carolina SBI Criminal Information and Identification Section, NCDAC, and the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry. Visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information sent through a tool is governed by that company's own privacy policy, retention practices, and sharing rules. We do not control those practices. Review the provider's policy before sending a search.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to Rockingham County offices, North Carolina courts, SBI, NCDAC, the state registry, or outside services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy terms apply. Advertising partners may also use their own systems to measure activity across websites.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to the service that needs it.

  • Search providers that process a query
  • Analytics vendors that measure traffic and performance
  • Advertising networks that place or measure ads
  • Government or law-enforcement authorities acting under a valid legal demand

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used for information under our control. No internet system is fully secure, so the policy cannot promise that a breach or unauthorized access will never occur.

Users Under 18

The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly seek personal data from a person under 18. If such data is identified, a deletion request may be made through the published contact route.

Your Data Rights

Rights can differ by residence and applicable law. North Carolina's Public Records Law, Chapter 132, governs records held by public agencies, including access limits for criminal investigation material under G.S. 132-1.4. It does not turn this private site into a government records custodian. For data held by us, a visitor may request access, correction, deletion, or an available processing opt-out, subject to legal and operational limits.

Updates to This Policy

This policy may change as services or legal obligations change. The revised text and effective date will appear here when an update takes effect.
